Congrats Grads!

May 27, 2010

Congrats to all of our NDSU students who graduated this spring!  Many blessings in the future!

We’ll miss you at Wednesday lunches next year!

This Wednesday, May 12th we will have an ice cream social to culminate our first year of college lunches at First Presbyterian Church / UCM Downtown!  We will not be serving lunch, but will instead be scooping up some delicious ice cream sundaes for all you college students that have been joining us for lunch this year.  Bring your friends!  Take a quick break from writing papers/making models/studying/finals to indulge your sweet tooth.  You deserve it! :)

Here’s your opportunity to actually DO something for Earth Day this year!  Our Soul Space team is coordinating a night of pickin’ up trash around downtown this Wednesday night, April 21st, starting at 7:00pm.  Meet in the foyer at First Presbyterian (where the Wednesday lunches are) and we’ll head out from there!  Please bring work gloves if you have them.  After we’ve made downtown squeaky clean (or until about an hour is up!) we’ll head back to the church for some yummy hot chocolate and snacks, and send ya on your way feeling like a very good earthly citizen.

Mission Break Out!

March 25, 2010

GroundWork: Serving Others in April

GroundWork is shifting focus in April. As UCM-Downtown’s program for people 18-29, GroundWork will forgo Wednesday evening discussion and instead focus on volunteer service projects through the end of the spring semester.
Our initial project will be on the first Sunday after Easter. On April 11th, come to Mission Breakout Service at 9:30 a.m., at 1st Presbyterian Church in Fargo. After a short worship service, the entire congregation will break out into work groups and then head out to service projects across Fargo-Moorhead.  We encourage GroundWork attendees to form a group and head over to the United Campus Ministries Center near the NDSU main campus, where the downstairs bathroom awaits retiling. During the service project, we’ll talk about other projects we’d like to do in the coming weeks and months.
In the meantime, we encourage you to come to SeeYouWednesday lunches seeyouwednesday.org and Wednesday evening’s supper at 5:15 (just $4 for students!), and then stay for the Soul Space worship service at 6:55 soulspaceatfirstpres.blogspot.com  —all this in addition to the many events at the UCM Center http://www.fmucm.org/ .

Everybody’s back from break ready to fly through the last weeks of the semester.  Don’t forget to stop by First Presbyterian Church each Wednesday now through the end of the school year for lunch!  Welcome back students!
